The Dec. 6 launch of RONDO caps off a transformative 2023 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. We’ve rolled out new features, including Blue Chip revives, clan tools, and a rebuilt PUBG Arcade. We leveled up our esports community with the naming of Global Partner Teams. And through it all we kept fresh surprises coming in team-ups with the likes of Aston Martin, Street Fighter 6, and KFC.
The year isn’t quite over, however. Now that the new map is here, we’re excited to share a couple more important updates.
STANDING OUT AS A BATTLE ROYALE
RONDO’s launch has propelled PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS to more than 620,000 peak concurrent users daily on Steam – an extraordinary performance for a game that launched nearly seven years ago. We’re excited to see even more Survivors touch down in RONDO now that it’s available on consoles as of this morning.
With more than 170 million registered accounts to date and 21.23 billion hours played – that's roughly 2.4 million years of gaming time! -- December’s new map excitement was preceded by a major milestone in PUBG’s history. In November 2023, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS officially surpassed $3 billion in lifetime revenue. The entire PUBG Studios team is humbled and overwhelmed with appreciation for all the players who have dropped into the battlegrounds over the years and driven PUBG’s lasting impact on the gaming industry.
EXPANDING THE GAMING EXPERIENCE
The new map also marks an expansion of PUBG’s lore with the release of Ground of Honor: RONDO, a live-action short film directed by Sam Hargrave (Extraction) and starring Jung-jae (Squid Game) and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands, Westworld, Tomb Raider).
With more than 1.3 million views so far on YouTube alone, Sam and team’s stellar work demonstrates that PUBG isn’t defined by gameplay alone. The gripping live-action journey through RONDO is a testament to PUBG’s enduring appeal as a creative play space that can accommodate storytelling of all shapes and sizes.
To all our incredible fans, we’d like to share one more loud and deeply heartfelt THANK YOU. We can’t wait to show you all the exciting surprises we have in store for 2024.
